The man was sitting in his car in the driveway of the Westside Mall of Commerce on Sunday when he saw the woman’s car speeding past. She stopped shortly before 1 a.m., and an officer came looking for her.

“He was just rolling on the ground, running, like,” said her friend, Mark Dufresne.

After telling the officer where she was going, the man started to try to help her, but her car didn’t stop.

“He was running his mouth as hard as he could,” Dufresne said. “No one was paying attention to her right away, and he turned around and tried to get in the car and I stopped him.”

When he picked her up and walked away, she said, “He had to use the back seat.”

So officers pulled a taser on the man’s car before he was arrested.

“It looked bad,” Dufresne said on Wednesday. “I pulled my shirt off in the back of his car to see if I could open it so it could be seen. And I did.”

The woman was taken to North Carolina Commonwealth Hospital where she also received a traumatic brain injury for the accident and is in stable condition.
